Why Meetings Suck

I was discussing meetings with a colleague in upper management and she had an observation about why it’s so difficult to arrive at a consensus during meetings.

“We ask these folks to be leaders and then expect them to be an effective part of a working team during meetings. These are creative, intelligent, and confident people. Add to that they are usually skeptics who question the status quo.”

What’s the solution?

Reserve large meetings for reviewing work and providing information.

The real work occurs when individuals connect individually.
