Think Like A Rookie

by - m on 04/05/2016

There is a long-held belief that thinking creatively becomes more difficult with age.

The brain is amazingly powerful – it finds solutions quickly by scanning for actions it’s done before.

It’s efficient but not necessarily creative.

There are a few things you can do to retrain your brain to think differently – at any age.

  • Don’t let what you’ve done in the past dictate what you do in the future.
  • Don’t allow your experience to limit your options. (There’s rarely only one solution – especially if it worked before).
  • Don’t define yourself by your title. (It’s okay for only job descriptions).
  • See yourself as someone with no boundaries – you’re a problem solver, a connector, a listener, an instigator.

Mostly – forget the past.

Be a rookie.
