The Creative Workplace Defined

While any workplace can be a creative place, I define my idea of a creative workplace as any place that relies on people’s imaginations to create something out of nothing.

How can you tell if you’re in a creative workplace?

The creative workplace supports “crazy” ideas.
The creative workplace embraces change.
The creative workplace encourages curiosity.
The creative workplace celebrates mistakes.
The creative workplace promotes collaboration.
The creative workplace may seem disorganized, even chaotic.

The creative workplace isn’t for everyone. If you need strict guidelines, if you crave structure, if you’re uncomfortable sharing the credit, if you have a Lucy Van Pelt disposition…

the creative workplace may not be for you.

The creative workplace can be a bipolar place to work at times. It requires flexibility and patience to succeed in the creative environment.

And a healthy sense of humor.
