Tell Us How

There’s a scene in the film “Monty Python’s Life Of Brian” which typifies some people’s behavior at work. In the scene, Brian (played by John Cleese), is trying to explain to the rabble that he is not a messiah and they should make up their own minds about their beliefs.

Brian: Please, please, please listen! I’ve got one or two things to say.
The Crowd: Tell us! Tell us both of them!
Brian: Look, you’ve got it all wrong! You don’t NEED to follow ME, You don’t NEED to follow ANYBODY! You’ve got to think for your selves!
The Crowd: We’ve got to think for ourselves….Tell us how!
Too many times we play it safe. We play follow the leader. Rather than thinking for ourselves, we ask ‘the powers that be’ to tell us how and what to think.
Think about it.
