Every once in a while we need a reminder just how lucky we are to be working in the business we’re in. I spent the past weekend shooting on a shrimp boat off St. Simons Island in Georgia. No matter how hard we work, regardless of the challenges we face, most of us don’t work seven days a week from 4:00AM to 5:00PM at a dangerous job to make eighty cents a pound for the product we provide.
It was a challenge to pick up a camera again and shoot all day. (I have a restored appreciation for the DP’s I work with). It’ll be a bigger challenge to edit the show. But I’ll be parked in an air conditioned room with access to all the creature comforts.
I plan to value the professionals who work to produce our projects. I plan to stop whining (at least for a while).
