No I in Team

Individual versus the team. When is the time to show you are a leader – a catalyst – and go against the grain. And when is the time to “go along” with members of the team?

It’s a constant balancing act.

You are always a member of some team – student body, family, sport’s team. Although I struggle with this as well (never claimed to be an expert on teams), I found that it’s best to listen to the views of the team’s members.

If you are the team leader (or the creative lead, or Executive Producer) it’s your job to make the call to keep the team on message. Just be sure that appropriate members have the opportunity to be heard. Be sure you aren’t making a decision solely on ‘gut instinct’ or because you have the power to do so.

And be honest with yourself.
