Karoshi (過労死) and Knowing When To Quit

(image from pexels.com)

Karoshi is the Japanese word meaning, ‘death from overwork.’

Japan is perhaps the only country with a word for occupational death.

It is not however the only country where stress from work can kill you.

How many of us spend our day working too many hours facing

bullying bosses?

hostile clients?

clueless colleagues?

As bad as they are there are more insidious ways to die.

Boredom.

Mediocrity.

Disappointment.

And mostly – disillusionment.

If you face these soul suckers each day…

it’s time to consider a less permanent exit strategy.
