We had our septic tank pumped out recently.
While Pete (the leader of the crew) and I were discussing the condition of the septic system, I asked him how he got into his line of work.
“Well sir,” he said, “I like to be outside and I like to help people. It may not be pretty, but I make a good living. I provide for my family. I give people a service they need. In fifteen years I have never been laid off and I’m good at it.”
He thought for a moment. “I know it seems strange, but I enjoy what I do…
…except for the smell.”
He laughed and added, “But that could describe a lot of people’s jobs.”
It all depends on your point of view.
