Experience Bad. Knowledge Good

by - m on 08/11/2011

As we gain experience we learn what works and what doesn’t work.
That’s good.
But by abandoning what doesn’t work we often limit the outside-the-box thinking that fosters creativity.
That’s bad.
As we gain experience we build expertise.
That’s good.
But expertise can get us stuck in a rut without realizing it.
That’s bad.
Remember that there is a world of difference between having years of experience and doing the same thing the same way for years.
It’s not the experience that makes us experts.
It’s building on what we learn from the experience that makes us experts.
Beware the illusion of experience.
Hold on to the knowledge.
