  1. No matter how much you explain, people will misunderstand.
  2. If someone is a jerk, you should give them examples of how they are being a jerk and ask them to stop.
  3. If they don’t stop being a jerk, relocate them.
  4. If you can’t relocate them, avoid them.
  5. If you can’t avoid them, ignore them.
  6. Everyone occasionally acts like a jerk.
  7. Avoid the HR department as much as possible. They mean well but don’t have many answers.
  8. There are some very smart individuals who just happen to work in HR. Get to know them. (Same goes for Business Affairs).
  9. Some people aren’t going to like you.
  10. You aren’t going to like everyone.
  11. Just because you don’t like somebody doesn’t mean they have no value.
  12. You have no control over what people think of you.
  13. Trust your instincts.
  14. Question your intuition.
  15. Speak your mind.
  16. Let others speak their mind.
  17. No reprisals.
  18. Karma is real.
  19. Give credit where credit is due.
  20. Praise often.
  21. Have some compassion.
  22. Embrace fear. It means you’re about to learn something.
